Typhoon Danas in Taiwan Leaves Two Dead, Over 330 Wounded

(MENAFN) Typhoon Danas struck Taiwan with devastating force, killing at least two people and injuring more than 330, local authorities confirmed Monday through the Central Emergency Operation Center.

The storm made landfall late Sunday in Budai Township, Chiayi County, located in southern Taiwan, before weakening to a tropical storm by early Monday, reports local media.

Danas unleashed intense rainfall, powerful winds, and severe storms across the area, forcing the evacuation of approximately 3,483 residents.

The fatalities occurred in Tainan: one individual died following a power outage caused by the storm, and another lost their life due to a falling tree.

The emergency center also disclosed that about 2,270 storm-related incidents have been documented throughout the affected regions.
