Gaza Bleeds: Israel's Airstrikes Kill Over Sixty Palestinians
(MENAFN) At least 63 Palestinians lost their lives in a brutal wave of Israeli airstrikes over the Gaza Strip on Thursday, marking a devastating escalation in the ongoing conflict, according to medical sources.
A Palestinian news agency reported that 28 Palestinians, who were waiting in line for humanitarian assistance, were killed in Israeli army fire in central and southern Gaza early Thursday morning.
Israeli warplanes also targeted the Mustafa Hafez School in western Gaza City, a shelter for hundreds of displaced civilians. This strike resulted in 13 fatalities and dozens more injuries, the news agency confirmed.
In Beit Lahia, a central city in Gaza, three people died following artillery shelling that hit a civilian gathering, medics reported.
In southern Gaza, three additional people—including a woman—were killed and several others wounded in an attack on tents housing displaced families in the al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis.
A separate Israeli strike near a care center in Jabalia, northern Gaza, claimed the life of another Palestinian, while three others were wounded.
While the news agency did not provide details on the locations of other victims, these strikes add to the growing toll in Gaza.
Despite mounting international pressure for a ceasefire, Israel’s military continues its relentless campaign in Gaza. Since October 2023, more than 57,000 Palestinians—most of them women and children—have been killed in what has been described as a genocidal campaign.
In November of last year, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Moreover, Israel is currently facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its ongoing military actions against the Palestinian enclave.
