THE MOVE OF THE YEAR: RUTINI WINES STRENGTHENS ITS WINEMAKING LEGACY WITH THE ADDITION OF JUAN PABLO MURGIA
"This is more than a hire-it's a statement of intent," says the Rutini Wines team. "We're bringing together two visionary minds who share an unwavering commitment to identity, precision, and continuous improvement."
Named one of the Top 30 Winemakers in the World by Decanter, Mariano Di Paola is known for his signature sensitivity to the Uco Valley's complex terroirs and has been instrumental in crafting some of Argentina's most celebrated wines, including the Single Vineyard Malbec Gualtallary, which recently earned Best in Show honors.
Juan Pablo Murgia, meanwhile, is widely recognized as one of the leading voices in Argentina's new wave of winemakers. His international training and technical expertise have earned him acclaim for creating wines that blend authenticity and sophistication, always driven by origin, finesse, and forward-thinking strategy.
Murgia's appointment follows the recent addition of Martina Galeano , a UC Davis–trained oenologist, and reflects the winery's vision of strengthening its future through bold talent and global perspective. The dynamic winemaking team now driving Rutini Wines and sister winery Bodega La Rural is firmly positioned to carry the legacy forward.
With this bold move, Rutini Wines reaffirms its commitment to prestige, excellence, and quality as the pillars of both its present and future.
About Rutini Wines
Founded in 1885, Rutini Wines is one of Argentina's most established and respected wineries. From its state-of-the-art facility in Tupungato, in the heart of the Uco Valley, it produces a wide portfolio of high-end wines recognized for their elegance, balance, and international reach.
The winery cultivates 250 hectares across three high-altitude estates (1,000–1,500 meters above sea level), where stony soils and dramatic temperature variation contribute to exceptional grape character. Rutini Wines produces approximately 8.5 million liters annually, combining innovation, precision viticulture, and sustainable practices. With over 6,500 French oak barrels and cutting-edge vinification systems, every step of production is designed to express the region's unique terroirs.
Led since 1994 by Mariano Di Paola, one of the most acclaimed winemakers in the world, Rutini Wines continues to redefine quality and legacy in Argentine winemaking.
