PSD Renews Drowning Prevention Warning Amid Summer Season
(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)
Amman, July 1 (Petra) – The Public Security Directorate (PSD) has reiterated its call for citizens and residents to strictly adhere to safety guidelines in order to prevent drowning incidents, particularly as the summer season drives increased visits to water sites.
The directorate warned against negligence and ignoring safety instructions, stressing that swimming in unsafe or unmonitored locations has led to a number of tragic incidents in recent years.
It reaffirmed its ongoing efforts to safeguard lives through awareness campaigns and heightened monitoring, urging the public to cooperate and follow precautions to ensure everyone's safety.
The PSD specifically advised against swimming in unregulated areas such as dams, agricultural ponds, and flowing irrigation channels. It also cautioned against emotionally driven attempts to rescue drowning individuals without proper water rescue skills and knowledge and emphasized the importance of closely supervising children during outings near bodies of water.
The directorate underscored the importance of fully complying with warning signs and notices that indicate dangerous or restricted swimming areas. It urged the public to stay away from agricultural ponds and unsafe water bodies and to avoid standing near the edges of open waters to prevent sudden slips or falls.
Reaffirming that safety is a shared responsibility, the PSD concluded that following guidelines ensures a safe and enjoyable summer, free of preventable hazards.
