(MENAFN) Thousands of Yemenis took to the streets across Houthi-controlled areas on Friday, demonstrating their support for Gaza and Iran, as reported by media.

The protests were held under the slogan "Praising Iran's victory... and expressing steadfastness with Gaza until victory," following a call by Houthi leaders for widespread participation.

At Al-Sabeen Square in central Sanaa, crowds of pro-Houthi supporters waved both Yemeni and Palestinian flags, while also displaying banners condemning Israel. Protesters loudly chanted anti-Israel and anti-U.S. slogans in a powerful show of solidarity with Gaza.

Participants in the rally hailed Iran for what they called "the great victory" in its recent clashes with Israel and the U.S., and expressed continued backing for the "Palestinian resistance operations in Gaza."

This demonstration comes as part of the Houthis' ongoing campaign, which began in November 2023, shortly after the escalation of the Israel-Hamas conflict. The movement has positioned itself as a key player in expressing solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza, following months of violence in the region.
