South Africa invites firms to invest in his country

(MENAFN) South African Vice President Paul Mashatile has extended an open invitation to Russian businesses to invest in South Africa, emphasizing the goal of doubling trade between the two countries.
During a meeting in Moscow with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, the two leaders discussed expanding cooperation in sectors such as energy and agriculture, according to reports.
“Our markets are open to Russian enterprises, companies. They can come to our country and do business in South Africa,” Mashatile said, as noted in a meeting transcript published by the Russian government.
He highlighted South Africa’s strategic position as a key entry point to African markets. “We believe that South Africa is the gateway to the continent of Africa. And once you come to our country, you have markets of a billion people, if we are talking about the entire continent,” he added.
Mashatile also voiced concern over the recent decline in trade volumes between the two BRICS partners and expressed his government’s desire to strengthen economic ties. “We want trade between Russia and South Africa to double,” he stated.
