Putin, Erdogan Hold Talks on Middle East, Ukraine Situation
(MENAFN) Russian President Vladimir Putin engaged in a phone call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday to address escalating tensions in both the Middle East and Ukraine, according to a Kremlin announcement.
The official statement highlighted that "Putin and Erdogan condemned Israel's use of force against Iran, which violated the UN Charter and other norms of international law."
Both leaders voiced deep alarm over the intensifying Iran-Israel conflict, emphasizing the severe loss of life and the potential long-lasting impact on regional stability.
They jointly called for an immediate halt to violence and pushed for resolving disputes—including those concerning Iran’s nuclear program—through diplomatic and political channels.
In addition, Putin thanked Erdogan for his crucial role in facilitating direct negotiations between Moscow and Kiev. He reiterated that Russia remains committed to the agreements made during the Russia-Ukraine talks held in Istanbul on June 2, which cover the repatriation of fallen soldiers' bodies and prisoner exchanges.
