UAE Authority Warns Of Fake Forms Taking 'Exemptions' For Study Abroad Policy

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)

Authorities in UAE on Tuesday warned residents of a new scam that has been making the rounds on social media.

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has said that some "unofficial links and unauthorised forms" have been "falsely claiming" that they are handling exemption requests for studying abroad.

This comes a week after the UAE approved certain criteria for Emirati students pursuing higher education in universities abroad. The decision aims to regulate international scholarship options in accordance with the nation's aspirations.

The authority added in a clear statement that "it has neither released nor endorsed any such materials outside its official channels".

In fact, it has even urged residents to avoid entering personal details in any form unless they are posted on official channels or on verified social media channels.

This isn't the first time that such an advisory has been published. Scammers have often impersonated public officials or authorities in an attempt to seize personal information of UAE residents.

Local authorities frequently ask residents to exercise caution when clicking on links leading to websites or scanning QR codes in places.
