U.S. New Home Sales Outperform Market Predictions in April
(MENAFN) New home sales in the United States significantly outperformed market predictions in April, reaching 743,000 units, according to data released Friday by the U.S. Census Bureau. This figure comfortably surpassed the market consensus of 694,000 units for the month.
April's sales represent a robust 10.9% increase compared to March's downwardly revised rate of 670,000 units. On an annual basis, the number of houses sold in April also saw a 3.3% jump from the April 2024 figure of 719,000.
The U.S. Census Bureau reported that the median sales price for new houses in April stood at $407,200, while the average sales price was $518,400.
However, a key indicator of future market demand, building permits, experienced a 4% decline from the previous month, totaling 1.422 million in April. Despite this dip, the figure still exceeded market expectations of 1.412 million.
