Kuwait, US Discuss Bilateral Coop. For Maritime Security


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) NEW YORK, May 9 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Coast Guard Commodore Sheikh Mubarak Ali Al-Sabah discussed on Friday strengthening bilateral cooperation and exchange of expertise in the field of maritime security, with Vice Adm. Brad Cooper, deputy commander of the U.S. Central Command.
During their meeting, they also tackled recent regional escalations and security challenges, emphasizing the need for joint coordination to ensure maritime security in the Arabian Gulf, Ministry of Interior said in a statement.
Furthermore, both sides addressed operational enhancements, best practices in maritime surveillance, and emergency response strategies, the statement added.
The Task Force 59 unit of the US Navy Central is expected to visit the Sabah Al-Ahmad Naval Base, to observe Kuwaiti unmanned vessels and exchange expertise, the statement noted. (end)
