PM Shmyhal, EU Officials Honor Fallen Ukrainian Defenders In Lviv

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, together with senior EU officials and diplomats, paid tribute to the defenders who died in the Russo-Ukrainian war during a ceremony at the Mars Field in Lviv.

The head of government shared the news on Facebook , as reported by Ukrinform.

“Today, we are in Lviv with our foreign friends and partners. At the Mars Field, we honored the memory of the defenders who gave their lives for Ukraine in the Russo-Ukrainian war. Ukraine and Europe are forever indebted to those who died for peace and security across the continent. Eternal glory to the Heroes!” Shmyhal wrote.

He expressed gratitude to all who stand shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine on this day: EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, foreign ministers of EU countries, European Commissioners, and diplomats.

“We deeply appreciate your unwavering support for the Ukrainian people,” Shmyhal added.

For her part, the EU's chief diplomat noted on the social platform X :“Today, we celebrate Europe Day with Ukraine and its people. Because in a family, both joys and hardships are shared.”

Kaja Kallas emphasized:“Together with Foreign Ministers, we stand united with Ukraine for a lasting peace. For the future we believe in.”

As reported by Ukrinform, on the eve of May 9, EU High Representative Kaja Kallas announced that European foreign ministers would visit Ukraine to discuss support for the defense industry and agree on the political framework for establishing an international tribunal to prosecute war crimes and the crime of aggression against Ukraine.
