China Prepares to Launch Shenzhou-20 Crewed Spacecraft

(MENAFN) The China Manned Space Agency has announced that the Shenzhou-20 crewed spaceship is set for launch on Thursday.

The spacecraft will be launched at 5:17 p.m. local time (0917GMT) from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, located in the northwest of China, based on the Chinese Space Station’s update on X.

Astronauts Chen Dong, Chen Zhongrui, and Wang Jie are assigned to carry out the Shenzhou-20 crewed spaceflight mission.

Chen Dong has been designated as the commander of the mission.

The Shenzhou-20 crew will replace the Shenzhou-19 astronauts, who are scheduled to return after completing six months of research in space.

In October of the previous year, China successfully launched the Shenzhou-19 spacecraft, which carried three astronauts into orbit.
