Kremlin Unveils US, Russia Talks’ Content

(MENAFN) Russian Leader Vladimir Putin and Steve Witkoff, the White House’s special envoy, engaged in lengthy conversations on Friday that covered “aspects of the settlement of the Ukraine conflict,” according to a statement released by the Kremlin.

Nonetheless, officials refrained from disclosing any further specifics about the meeting.

Witkoff traveled to Russia on Friday and held discussions with Putin in St. Petersburg.

Their private dialogue extended for more than four hours, though the precise contents have been largely kept confidential by both Russian and American authorities.

Earlier in the day, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt commented on the topic during a media briefing, responding to a journalist's inquiry regarding the objective of Witkoff’s trip to Russia.

Leavitt indicated that the mission’s intention was to improve direct dialogue between the United States and the Kremlin.

This move forms part of a wider initiative focused on brokering a ceasefire and ultimately reaching a peace accord in relation to the ongoing Ukraine conflict.
