Sudanese Leader: We Will Continue The Battle To Crush The Terrorist Militias

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KHARTOUM, March 29 (KUNA) -- Chairman of Sudan's Transitional Sovereignty Council General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan on Saturday declared that there would be neither negotiations nor talks with those "who have attacked the Sudanese people," alluding to the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces.
In a statement to the people marking advent of Eid Al-Fitr, Al-Burhan has affirmed that the regular armed forces are continuing the battle against the rebels to crush "the terrorist militias."
"We will not forgive, we will not make compromises and we will not hold negotiations and we will remain faithful to the martyrs' blood," Al-Burhan pledged. "The militias must drop their arms or the conflict will continue," he warned.
On March 21, Burhan's army took control of the presidential palace and wide regions in central Khartoum after fierce battles with the Rapid Forces.
The army, since April 2023, has been engaged in a wide-scale internal warfare that has claimed thousands of lives and left some 14 million people homeless or displaced.
The bloody conflict broke out after fruitless conciliation talks, partly aimed at integrating the irregulars into the army. (end)
