Ukraine Repatriates Bodies Of 909 Fallen Defenders


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Following repatriation efforts, the bodies of 909 fallen defenders have been returned to Ukraine.

The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War announced this on Telegram , Ukrinform reports.



Among the repatriated fallen soldiers are those who perished in the Kurakhove, Pokrovsk, Bakhmut, Vuhledar, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhia sectors, as well as from morgues on Russian territory.

The fallen defenders were returned through the joint efforts of the Coordination Headquarters, the Joint Center at the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Interior Ministry, the Office of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Persons Missing under Special Circumstances, the State Emergency Service, and other security and defense sector institutions.

The Coordination Headquarters expressed gratitude to the International Committee of the Red Cross for its assistance, as well as special appreciation to the personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who transport the repatriated heroes to designated state facilities. They also oversee the handover of the fallen to law enforcement agencies under the Interior Ministry and forensic medical experts within the Health Ministry system.

Law enforcement investigators, in collaboration with forensic institutions of the Interior Ministry, will work swiftly to identify the fallen.
