Khyber: Tribal Council Opposes CCTV Cameras In Girls' Exam Halls, Calls For Immediate Removal

(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) The Shalobar Qaumi Council in Bara, Khyber, has strongly opposed the installation of CCTV cameras in girls' examination halls, calling it a violation of tribal traditions. The council has urged the government to revoke the decision immediately, warning that it could negatively impact girls' education and exacerbate existing societal and familial restrictions.

Residents have expressed serious concerns, arguing that camera monitoring contradicts tribal culture and traditions. Parents fear that such measures compromise the security and dignity of their daughters.

“Our daughters' honor is our top priority. If monitoring is necessary, the number of female invigilators should be increased instead of installing cameras,” a resident told TNN.

Another concerned father emphasized that while they support education, such steps make it even more difficult for girls to continue their studies.“The government should consider our cultural sensitivities and find an alternative solution,” he said.

Shalobar Qaumi Council representatives urged school administrations to engage in open discussions with tribal elders and explore alternative methods that ensure fair examination practices while respecting cultural values.

Parents and tribal elders have demanded the immediate removal of CCTV cameras from examination halls and called for an increase in female invigilators to maintain transparency without compromising tribal traditions.
