Industries Minister TRB Rajaa highlighted the state's efforts to move up the value chain by manufacturing high-value electronics components. "We are focused on attracting companies utilising advanced technology to provide high-end jobs," he said.
The state's electronics export order value for the financial year ending March 2024 was USD 9.56 billion, more than double that of Karnataka (USD 4.60 billion) and Uttar Pradesh (USD 4.46 billion).
So far this fiscal year, Tamil Nadu has further extended its lead, with Karnataka at USD 6.88 billion and Uttar Pradesh at USD 4.69 billion.
Tamil Nadu's strategic focus is shifting from low-value manufacturing and assembly to high-end semiconductor and electronics component manufacturing.

The Union government recently announced two new electronics manufacturing clusters in Tamil Nadu-at Pillaipakkam in Kancheepuram and Manalur in Tiruvallur-at a cost of Rs 1,112 crore.
