Marco Rubio Supports Armenia, Azerbaijan Peace Deal


(MENAFN) On Tuesday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed his approval of the peace treaty agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, highlighting its significance for establishing long-term stability and prosperity in the area, as stated by the State Department.

"The Secretary welcomed the agreement on a peace treaty with Azerbaijan and underlined the importance of a lasting peace to break the cycle of regional conflict and bring security and prosperity to the South Caucasus," said State Department representative Tammy Bruce in a statement following a phone call between Rubio and Armenian Premier Nikol Pashinyan.

Rubio and Pashinyan agreed that any shape of intensification in the South Caucasus is unacceptable, the statement mentioned.

Both leaders also talked about the mutual issues of their nations as strategic allies and confirmed their dedication to enhancing mutual collaboration, the statement concluded.
