Myanmar junta attacks health clinic, fatalities reported
(MENAFN) In Myanmar's Magway region, a military junta attack on a medical clinic resulted in the deaths of over 11 individuals over the weekend, according to local media outlet.
The bombing occurred at approximately 8:40 a.m. local time on Saturday in Gangaw Township.
Hnan Khar village, situated roughly 57.9 kilometers (36 miles) north of Gangaw, was targeted in the incident.
Myanmar media sources reported that the clinic, nestled in the center of Hnan Khar village, was newly launched when the attack took place.
A witness described the extensive damage, stating, “The entire home housing the clinic was obliterated in the explosion. There were body parts scattered all over the place. A neighboring house was also reduced to ashes.”
The bombing claimed the lives of the clinic’s lead physician, his pregnant wife and child, a family of three, an elderly woman as well as her grandchild, along with several members of the clinic’s staff.
This strike is the latest in a series of violent events that have followed the military's seizure of power in a 2021 coup, which triggered a widespread and ongoing civil war in Myanmar.
