Fatal fall claims lives of three climbers in Spain

(MENAFN) A tragic climbing accident in Moncayo National Park, nestled within the Aragon region of northern Spain, resulted in the deaths of three individuals on Saturday, according to the Spanish Civil Guard.

Emergency services received a distress call at approximately 2:00 PM local time (1300 GMT), reporting an incident in the "La Escupidera" area, a known perilous section of the mountainous park. At the time of the accident, the region was experiencing severe weather conditions, including powerful winds and heavy snowfall.

Emergency services, deployed from Huesca, were compelled to navigate the challenging terrain on foot due to the inclement weather. Upon reaching the scene, they discovered two climbers dead, while a third sustained fatal injuries shortly thereafter.

Initial reports indicate the victims were part of a group traveling from Madrid.
