Turkish National Defense Minister urges PKK to lay down their arms

(MENAFN) Turkish National Defense Minister Yasar Guler has urged the PKK and all its affiliated groups to disband and lay down their arms without conditions or delay.

Speaking at a ceremony marking the March 18 Canakkale Victory, Guler emphasized that Türkiye’s counterterrorism efforts remain a top priority and warned that any calls for a ceasefire are irrelevant. He stated that the Turkish armed forces will continue to combat threats to national unity and security with unwavering determination.

Guler noted that the PKK itself has acknowledged its prolonged and unsuccessful insurgency, stressing that terrorism has no future. He reaffirmed that Türkiye’s ultimate goal is to eradicate terrorist organizations completely and ensure lasting security.

The PKK, recognized as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the US, and the EU, has been responsible for over 40,000 deaths, including civilians, over the past four decades.
