Rwanda Breaks Diplomatic Ties with Belgium
(MENAFN) Rwanda severed diplomatic relations with Belgium on Monday due to the ongoing war in eastern DR Congo, as stated by an official announcement.
The move is "effective immediately," according to the Rwandan Foreign Ministry, which clarified that the decision was made "after careful consideration of several factors, all linked with Belgium’s pitiful attempts to sustain its neocolonial delusions."
The Rwandan government ordered that all Belgian diplomats must leave the region within 48 hours. The Ministry blamed Belgium for weakening Rwanda "both well before and during the ongoing conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo, in which Belgium has a deep and violent historical role, especially in acting against Rwanda."
The statement further emphasized that "today, Belgium has clearly taken sides in a regional conflict and continues to systematically mobilize against Rwanda in different forums, using lies and manipulation to secure an unjustified hostile opinion of Rwanda, in an attempt to destabilize both Rwanda and the region."
