Floating Thingyan carnival returns to Myanmar
(MENAFN) According to a local representative announcement on Friday, Myanmar has announced that preparations are underway for the one and only floating Thingyan festival to be held on Inle Lake in Nyaungshwe district, Shan region.
In an interview with a news agency, the representative from Nyaungshwe district office stated: "We are now preparing for the floating Thingyan festival. It will last four days, from April 13 to 16."
He mentioned that the festival serves as a major attraction for tourists while also providing economic benefits to the local community. He also noted: "Last year, the number of visitors was larger than we expected. All hotels and restaurants were fully occupied during the festival period."
The official further emphasized that the primary objective of the festival is to draw in and amuse tourists, as Nyaungshwe remains one of the country's most visited sites.
Spanning an area of 489,721 hectares, Inle Lake stands as one of Myanmar’s most prominent tourist landmarks.
The official mentioned that the upcoming floating Thingyan festival will feature a range of events designed to amuse visitors, while discussions continue regarding the introduction of other fresh activities.
