US Deports Nearly 120 Afghan And Asian Migrants To Panama
According to the Associated Press, José Raúl Mulino stated that in two additional flights, 360“illegal” refugees will be deported from the United States to Panama.
The President of Panama had pledged last week during a meeting with the U.S. Secretary of State to cooperate with the United States in accepting and deporting refugees.
Panama is playing a key role in the repatriation of deported refugees, working closely with the U.S. and international organizations to ensure proper support and assistance for the refugees.
This growing cooperation could influence future deportation policies and refugee management across the region. The situation highlights the ongoing challenge of managing illegal migration while ensuring the well-being of displaced individuals.
On Thursday, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced that it had received a request from the Panamanian authorities for assistance with the deported refugees.
The organization stated that it is working with local authorities to support the refugees, including helping them return to their countries of origin.
U.S. officials have indicated that they are discussing similar agreements with other countries for the deportation of illegal refugees.
