Turkmens in Northern Syria Gather to Express Support for Syria’s Unity

(MENAFN) On Saturday, Turkmens from northern Syria convened to demonstrate their support for the country’s territorial integrity and contribute to the efforts of the new government.

The meeting took place in the town of Cobanbey, near the Türkiye-Syria border, and saw participation from Turkmen communities across Aleppo, Latakia, Damascus, Homs, Hama, Quneitra, and Raqqa.

Faisal Juma, President of the Turkmen Assembly, extended his congratulations to Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, stating that the gathering aimed to safeguard the future of the Turkmen people and address the challenges their communities face.

He underscored that they had always maintained their identity, causes, and values in the land where they have lived for over a thousand years, stating: "With the same spirit and belief, we continue our efforts to protect our presence in Syria, defend our people, and secure our future."

Juma also offered congratulations to all Syrians on the fall of the Assad regime and the nation's recovery.

At the conclusion of the meeting, a press statement was issued, calling for constitutional protections for Turkmen identity and official recognition of their status in Syria’s future.
