Armenian Corner Unveiled At Katara

Doha: General Manager of Katara Professor Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti welcomed H E Anna Hakobyan, the spouse of the Prime Minister of Armenia and Executive Director of the“My Step” Foundation, during her visit to the Cultural Village Foundation - Katara.

H E Hakobyan embarked on a guided tour of Katara's most prominent cultural and heritage landmarks. She explored the Traditional Dhow Museum, where she gained insights into Qatar's rich maritime heritage, and visited the iconic open-air theater, a masterpiece of architectural design. The tour also included Al Thuraya Planetarium, offering a unique scientific and educational experience, and the Qatari Hunting Association, where she learned about the preservation of traditional hunting practices and their role in promoting cultural identity.

The visit culminated in the inauguration of the Armenian Corner, a significant addition to Katara's cultural landscape. Located near the Katara Poetry Council, the corner symbolizes the deep cultural and historical ties between Qatar and Armenia. It features the artwork“Freedom from the shackles” by renowned artist Vanand Shiraz, a powerful piece that embodies humanity's enduring struggle for freedom and justice.

In his remarks, Dr. Al Sulaiti emphasised Katara's role as a global platform for cultural dialogue and coexistence.“The Armenian Corner reflects the depth of our cultural relations and underscores Katara's mission to celebrate diversity and promote mutual understanding,” he said.

The Armenian Corner is set to become a vibrant hub for cultural exchange, showcasing Armenia's artistic and literary heritage while fostering greater understanding and collaboration between Qatar and Armenia.
