Police Academy Joins INTERPOL Global Academy Network

Paris: The Police Academy yesterday signed an agreement to join the Interpol Global Academy Network, officially becoming a member, in presence of Minister of State for Interior Affairs H E sheikh Abdulaziz bin Faisal bin Mohammed Al Thani.

The agreement was signed at the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) headquarters by President of the Police Academy, Brigadier Abdul Rahman Majid Al Sulaiti, and Secretary General of INTERPOL, Valdecy Urquiza.

The INTERPOL Global Academy is a worldwide Network of renowned educational institutions in the field of law enforcement at both national and regional levels. The Police Academy's joining of the network is an important step toward enhancing international security cooperation and developing police capabilities in the region and worldwide.

The Minister of State for Interior Affairs also visited the headquarters of INTERPOL in Lyon, France. The visit is part of the efforts to boost security cooperation between the Ministry of Interior and INTERPOL.

The Minister of State met President of INTERPOL H E Major General Dr. Ahmed Naser Al Raisi, the Secretary-General, and a host of INTERPOL's executive directors.

In addition, the Minister of State for Interior Affairs visited INTERPOL's Command and Coordination Centre to examine a segment of an interactive exhibition and review the INTERPOL's global security objectives.

The President of INTERPOL expressed his thanks to Qatar for supporting INTERPOL's projects, especially the Project Stadia which qualified international security cadres in the field of securing major sporting events and strengthening the exchange of security expertise among the member states.
