Al Sadd Take On Umm Salal In Crucial Clash

Doha: Umm Salal will clash with Al Sadd in Week 15 of the Ooredoo Stars League at the Grand Hamad Stadium of Al Arabi club today. The kick-off is at 6.45 pm.

The match is crucial for both sides, with Al Sadd aiming to extend their winning momentum and Umm Salal desperate to break a losing streak.

Al Sadd are in second place with 28 points, level with Al Gharafa and Al Ahli, as they chase league leaders Al Duhail. They head into the game after a 3-1 victory over Al Arabi, which restored their confidence following a loss to Qatar SC. Coach Felix Sanchez emphasized the importance of consistency, saying,“We must collect points weekly in this highly competitive league. Our focus is on attack and controlling the game.”

Al Sadd will be at full strength, except for Spanish striker Rafa Mujica, who remains sidelined due to injury. The reverse fixture saw Umm Salal stun Al Sadd with a 3-1 win at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium, adding extra motivation for both sides.

Umm Salal, meanwhile, are enduring a tough phase, having suffered three consecutive defeats to Al Rayyan, Al Shamal, and Al Duhail.

They currently sit in 10th place with 14 points and will need a strong performance to secure a much-needed result.

Despite their struggles, coach Patrice Beaumelle remains optimistic.

“We are facing a strong team, but I trust my players. We must play with spirit and concentration,” he said.

Elsewhere, Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium will host the heavyweight match between Al Duhail and Al Wakrah, with the kick-off set for at 6.45pm.

Al Duhail aim to solidify their position at the top of the standings, currently holding first place with 32 points, which is four points ahead of their nearest rivals, Al Sadd, Al Gharafa and Al Ahli.

Al Ahli and Qatar SC will face off in the opening match in Week 15 at Al Thumama Stadium. The kick-off is at 4.30pm.
