Panama City Carnival Festival 2025: Mayor Mayer Mizrachi Makes Carnival Official

(MENAFN- Newsroom Panama) The Cinta Costera will become the epicenter of carnival fun in the capital city with the celebration of the 2025 Carnival Festival, organized by the Mayor's Office of Panama with the support of private companies. At a press conference, the organizers made official the activity, which will take place between Friday, February 28 and Tuesday, March 4, and highlighted that King Momo's party promises to provide an experience full of music, culture and entertainment for all attendees. It was announced that traditional culecos will be held, shows on stage with the participation of national and international artists, mechanical games and other attractions for attendees.

Organizers reported that the economic impact of carnivals in previous years has reached up to $30 million, benefiting businesses, hotels, restaurants and small entrepreneurs. In previous years, the Carnival in the capital city was managed by the Government through the Panamanian Institute of Tourism, but this year the Executive announced that it would not be held due to lack of financial resources. Later, the mayor of Panama, Mayer Mizrachi, announced that he would make arrangements with the private company to hold the carnival, which was made official on Tuesday.

Security

The security forces will be responsible for controlling and monitoring the activity, and it is estimated that there will be a force of around 8,500 agents. The security operation will include the participation of the National Police, Firefighters, Sinaproc, Municipal Police, Red Cross, the Transit Authority and 911. Edgardo Núñez, from the National Police, reported that the activities will take place between Calle 33 and Avenida Balboa and the vicinity of the Mercado del Marisco.

In addition, six access points will be enabled. Mayor Mizrachi stressed that this edition of the Carnival marks a milestone, as it is fully financed by private companies, without resorting to public resources. “We thank the private sector for trusting this administration. We also thank President José Raúl Mulino and the security forces for their support. In the last decade, $16.7 million has been invested in carnivals; now those funds can be allocated to other needs,” said Mizrachi.
