Riding On 187% Decadal Exports Surge, Bihar Targets USD 200 Bn By 2030

(MENAFN- KNN India) Patna, Feb 5 (KNN) The Bihar government has outlined an ambitious vision to enhance its export capabilities, with Divisional Commissioner Manish Kumar announcing plans to transform several districts into major export hubs.

During a specialised workshop on e-commerce exports held in Darbhanga, Kumar emphasised the strategic importance of developing Madhubani, Jhanjharpur, Darbhanga, Samastipur, and Dalsingsarai as key centers for export activities.

The state has demonstrated significant progress in its export performance, with figures rising from Rs 5,781 crore in 2013-14 to Rs 16,645 crore in 2023-24, marking a substantial increase of 187 percent.

Building on this momentum, the government has set an ambitious target of achieving USD 200 billion in exports by 2030, signaling its commitment to positioning Bihar as a major player in international trade.

Currently ranked 18th among Indian states in export performance, Bihar is implementing comprehensive measures to improve its standing.

The workshop, which brought together officials, domain experts, and trade representatives, including Madhubani District Magistrate Arvind Kumar Verma, focused particularly on leveraging the Mithila region's strategic advantage, given its cultural and economic ties with Nepal.

The administration has developed a multi-faceted approach to support export growth, introducing initiatives such as the e-BRC policy and the e-Connect portal.

These platforms are designed to streamline export processes and provide essential support to businesses entering international markets.

The government is also offering various incentives and assistance programs to encourage entrepreneurship and facilitate export operations.

The workshop served as a platform for addressing key challenges faced by exporters and exploring potential solutions. Discussions centered on strengthening regional industries and enhancing their access to global markets through improved infrastructure, policy reforms, and financial incentives.

The comprehensive strategy demonstrates Bihar's commitment to fostering economic growth through export promotion and establishing itself as a significant contributor to India's international trade sector.
