No Fines For Missing MMC By Feb 5: Political Consensus In Parliament

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The imposition of fines on military conscripts who did not complete the Military Medical Commission (MMC) examination by February 5, 2025, is formally possible if Parliament fails to extend the deadlines in time. However, there is currently a Political consensus that fines will not be applied.

This was stated by MP Iryna Friz, a member of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence, in a comment to Ukrinform.

"The imposition of fines on military conscripts who did not complete the medical examination within the legally stipulated time frame by February 5, 2025, is formally possible if Parliament does not extend the deadlines in time. However, at present, we see a political consensus that fines are not planned to be applied," she said.

According to Friz, one of the main reasons is that the state itself has faced difficulties in organizing the MMC process for those with limited fitness for service. "Queues at Territorial Recruitment Centers (TRCs) and the high workload of MMCs have significantly impacted the ability to conduct timely medical examinations for all those with limited fitness for military service," she noted.

At the same time, Friz emphasized that conscripts must also take responsibility, as "many simply ignored the legal requirement, assuming that the issue would somehow resolve itself."

"Therefore, I urge all conscripts to take the new deadlines, which will be set by draft law 12457, seriously – get their MMC referrals in time, complete the medical examination, and obtain their updated status," the MP stressed.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence has submitted a draft law to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine requiring those deemed with limited fitness to undergo a re-examination by June 5, 2025.
