Israel provides missiles to Ukraine

(MENAFN) Israel has secretly sent approximately 90 interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine, with the shipment passing through Poland, Axios reported. The move comes after Israel's Defense Forces retired their US-supplied Patriots in April 2024. Ukraine had requested the missiles at that time, but the request initially stalled amid warnings from Russia.

Recently, several US Air Force planes transported the missiles from Israel to Rzeszow, Poland, a NATO logistics hub for supporting Ukraine. Israel informed Russia that the action was simply a return of the Patriot system to the US, not a direct weapon supply to Ukraine. This missile delivery is Israel’s first significant contribution to Ukraine's defense since the Russia-Ukraine war began in 2022, though Israel had previously only provided humanitarian aid due to concerns over retaliation from Moscow, especially in Syria.
