Türkiye's economic confidence index rises to 99.7 in January

(MENAFN) Türkiye's economic confidence index increased to 99.7 in January from 98.9 in December, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Office (TurkStat) on Thursday. This rise signals a slight improvement in economic sentiment for the month.

Among the various sectors, the services confidence index saw a notable increase of 2.5 percent, while the retail trade confidence index rose by 1.4 percent, and the construction confidence index gained 2.6 percent compared to December. These positive movements in specific sectors suggest a more favorable outlook in those areas.

However, there was a slight decline in the confidence levels for consumers and the real sector. The consumer confidence index fell by 0.4 percent, and the real sector confidence index saw a modest decrease of 0.1 percent, signaling a slight downturn in those segments of the economy.

The economic confidence index, which serves as an important gauge of the overall economic climate, ranges from 0 to 200. A value above 100 indicates optimism about the economic future, while a value below 100 reflects a more pessimistic outlook. Currently, the index remains just below the optimistic threshold, at 99.7.
