ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 4. New generation
gas processing plants will be built in Kazakhstan, the nation's
Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov said during an event marking the
125th anniversary of Kazakhstan's oil production in Astana today,
Trend reports.
"Our achievements are not limited to extraction and
transportation. Significant efforts are being directed towards the
development of domestic hydrocarbon processing. With the opening of
a polypropylene production plant in the Atyrau region, a
full-fledged oil and gas chemical industry has been established.
New projects for the production of polyethylene and butadiene are
ahead.
These enterprises not only contribute to import substitution but
also create the necessary environment for the development of small
and medium-sized businesses. In the coming years, new generation
gas processing plants will be built. The oil and gas industry
remains one of the drivers of the economy, and we are firmly
committed to further developing it by introducing innovative
technologies and ensuring environmental safety," he said.
Bektenov noted that Kazakhstan has significant hydrocarbon
reserves.
"Proven recoverable oil reserves exceed four billion tons,
making Kazakhstan a significant player in the global market. New
oil export routes are opening, including through the Caspian Sea.
The volumes of oil and gas transit through our country are
increasing. The KEBCO Kazakh oil brand has been launched, and work
is underway to expand the resource base, enhance the investment
attractiveness of geological exploration, increase production, and
implement new projects," the prime minister added.
The gas production volume in 2023 amounted to 59.1 billion cubic
meters, with a forecast of 60.5 billion cubic meters for 2024.
The production volume of liquefied petroleum gas was 2.95
million tons last year, with consumption at 1.8 million tons. The
forecast for liquefied petroleum gas production in 2024 is 2.95
million tons, with consumption at 2.1 million tons.
