China Hosts International Poetry Festival For Young BRICS Poets
Organised by the China Writers Association, the festival will take place in Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province, providing a platform for poets to connect, share their work, and engage in literary discussions.
The event, which began on 17 July and runs until 25 July, seeks to highlight the diversity of poetic styles across the BRICS countries – Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Iran, and Ethiopia – while strengthening cultural ties between them, Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS reported .
Zhang Hongsen, vice chairman of the China Writers Association, expressed the hope that the poets would use poetry to build a bridge of communication between minds and work together to create a beautiful home for humanity.
The festival is an expansion of the long-standing Chinese Youth Poetry Festival, which has been held annually since 1980.
