Brazil Expands 'More Doctors' Programme With New Recruitment Wave
In 2023, the Brazilian government streamlined the programme's implementation, improving working conditions and benefits for the participating medical staff. Early in July, Brazil's Ministry of Health announced a new wave of recruitment for doctors and medical staff to further bolster the initiative.
The programme includes quotas for employees with disabilities and other socially vulnerable groups. Brazilian Health Minister Nisia Trindade stated that the new decree aims to increase the number of specialists to 28,000. She noted that for the first time, the decree aligns with the quota policy, which is a priority of the federal government.
