Qatar's Katara.. Premium Global Venue For Culture, Arts, Tourism
DOHA, July 20 (KUNA) -- The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) in Qatar has become a globally recognized venue for culture and art, in addition to a viable tourism attraction in the center of the Qatari capital, Doha.
The 2010-established Katara mixed tradition and modernity, leading to a congregation of global heritages, along with authentic Qatari culture and tradition.
Several exhibitions are usually held and organized by the cultural village as part of achieving Qatar's national vision of 2030, which includes an exchange of cultures, as well as cultivating talents and ingenuity, regionally and globally.
Katara gathers people from across the globe and immerses them in a variety of cultural, tourist, and entertainment events.
The Katara Foundation issued last May its' 2023 annual cultural index, which showed that 1,570 events were held, from art galleries to symposiums and forums.
The index also detailed other figures, including 86 workshops, 122 dialogue sessions, 45 exhibitions and other functions.
Theaters in Katara screened 83 Arab and foreign films, and 39 contests, which attracted visitors from far and wide.
The Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organization announced last March that Katara was chosen as the Arab cultural heritage city for Arabian horses in recognition of its contribution to the field.
According to the Cultural Village Foundation, the term Katara was the oldest name given to the Qatari Peninsula in geographical maps since 150 AD. (end) sss
