Russia EXPO arranges strongman festival

(MENAFN) On Friday, the All-Russian Exhibition Center (VDNKh) in Moscow hosted the highly anticipated Eurasian Games strength sports festival, drawing strongmen from twelve regions across Russia. This one-day event was part of the international exhibition and forum known as Russia EXPO, held at the Sports Russia venue.

Athletes showcased their strength in five grueling disciplines, including the unique Apollo’s Axle lift—an apparatus crafted from railway car wheels connected by a robust bar—alongside a relay race featuring bags and tires weighing over 100 kg. Participants also faced the challenge of carrying a 380 kg balance beam, as well as stone-lifting and performing a car deadlift. Numerous photographs from the event captured the strongmen, many of whom are recognized powerlifting champions, successfully overcoming these formidable tasks.

Dmitry Skosyrsky from Omsk solidified his reputation as a top competitor by claiming first place at the games. Skosyrsky, who earned the title of Russia’s strongest man earlier this year with three consecutive wins at the Siberian Power Show, led the competition with impressive performances. Following him was David Shamey from Belgorod, who secured second place, while Alexander Klokov from Lipetsk rounded out the top three in third place.

This year marked the festival's inaugural event in the Russian capital, with previous iterations taking place in Sevastopol. Organized by the pan-Russian group "The Strongest Nation in the World," the decision to relocate the festival to Moscow was a strategic one. Mikhail Paller, the group's president, emphasized the significance of the venue, stating, "We brought this wonderful power show to Russia EXPO because this is the country’s central exhibition platform. Athletes participating in the competition came from all over the country. These are the strongest people in Russia and the world, many of them have international titles."

The strongman festival not only highlighted the athletic prowess of its competitors but also underscored Russia's commitment to promoting strength sports on a grand scale, attracting attention from fans and supporters nationwide.
