Egypt, UAE cooperate to boost renewable energy capabilities
(MENAFN) The Egyptian government announced a significant collaboration with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) aimed at adding approximately 4 gigawatts of renewable energy to Egypt's electricity grid starting from the upcoming summer. The announcement came following a meeting between Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, and CEO of ADNOC and its subsidiaries. The discussions focused on enhancing joint efforts in renewable energy initiatives and supporting the localization of various industries.
Dr. Sultan Al Jaber expressed confidence that addressing Egypt's energy challenges is feasible with available solutions. He emphasized the importance of developing a clear roadmap for Egypt's energy sector, outlining collaborative mechanisms for short, medium, and long-term projects aimed at achieving comprehensive solutions.
Prime Minister Madbouly and Dr. Sultan Al Jaber agreed on an ambitious plan to swiftly integrate a substantial amount of new renewable energy into Egypt's grid. They also emphasized the importance of fostering local industries associated with renewable energy production.
Madbouly highlighted the pivotal role of the private sector in implementing these projects, particularly companies with extensive experience in renewable energy ventures.
