Putin, Modi All Praise For Kabul's War On Terror


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL (Pajhwok): Top Russian and Indian leaders have welcomed Afghanistan's campaign against international terrorist groups, including ISIS.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoped the fight against terrorism in Afghanistan would be comprehensive and effective.

In a joint statement issued at the end of Modi's two-day visit to Moscow, they stressed the need to ensure urgent and uninterrupted humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people without any Political demands.

The two sides noted with appreciation the close coordination between India and Russia on Afghanistan, including through the dialogue mechanism between the Security Councils of both countries.

The security situation in Afghanistan, its implications for the region, the current political environment, issues related to terrorism and drug trafficking were also discussed by the two leaders.

Putin and Modi advocated for an independent, united and peaceful Afghan state free from terrorism, war and drugs, living in peace with its neighbours and ensuring respect for basic human rights and freedoms.

The joint statement said they underlined the important role of Moscow Format meetings in facilitating an amicable settlement in Afghanistan.
