ACI Reports JD3.392 Billion In Exports In First Half Of 2024

Amman, July 7 (Petra)-- Exports from the Amman Chamber of industry were JD3.392 billion in the first half of this year, as opposed to JD3.475 billion in the same period of 2023.
Six industries had a rise in exports, with the leather and knitted industries recording a 2.1 percent gain and the plastic and rubber industries recording a 30.8 percent increase, according to statistics data received by the Jordan News Agency (Petra).
Conversely, the exports from the remaining four industrial sectors fell at varying rates: the food, agriculture, livestock, and catering sectors had a decrease of 0.2 percent, while the mining industry saw a decrease of 32.3 percent.
Over half of the chamber's exports in the first half of this year, valued at JD2.190 billion, came from four Arab and international nations: India, the United States of America, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq.
Based on statistical data, the Chamber's exports to the United States of America reached approximately JD941 million in the first half of this year, up from JD550 million in the same period last year. This puts the United States of America at the top of the list of Arab and foreign nations that receive the most exports from Oman's industry.
Additionally, during the first half of this year, the Chamber's exports to Iraq climbed by 9 percent, totaling 440 million dinars, as opposed to 403 million dinars during the same time in 2023.
Conversely, Amman's industrial exports to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had a 7 percent decrease in the first half of this year, amounting to around 389 million dinars, compared to 418 million dinars, for the same period last year.
In comparison to JD632 million during the same period last year, the Chamber's exports to India fell by 33.6 percent in the first half of this year, to approximately JD420 million.
The Chamber's exports during the first half of 2024 were distributed geographically as follows: the Arab nations accounted for JD1.467 billion, the non-Arab Asian countries for JD621 million, and the African countries for almost JD17 million.
During the first half of this year, Amman's industry exported goods worth JD959 million to North American countries, approximately JD36 million to South American countries, JD171 million to countries in the European Union, roughly JD70 million to countries outside the Union, and JD51 million to other countries.
The chemical and cosmetic industries sectors accounted for almost JD878 million of the Chamber's exports in the first half of this year, followed by the mining sector with JD689 million and the engineering, electrical, and information technology sectors with JD522 million.
Statistics show that JD384 million were exported from the catering, food, livestock, and agricultural sectors; JD343 million were exported from the therapeutic and medical supply sector; and JD231 million were exported from the leather and textile goods sector.
The remaining sectors of Amman's industry exports in the first half of this year were the construction, wood and furniture, packaging, paper, cardboard, and office supply industries, with a combined value of about JD54 million, JD149 million for the plastic and rubber industries, and JD10 million for the packaging, paper, and cardboard industries.
Interestingly, the ACI was established in 1962 and today has 8,600 industrial firms as members, with a capital of around 5 billion dinars and created almost 159,000 job opportunities.
