Doha: With the start of summer vacations, many schools and entities in Qatar are offering various activities for children at summer camps to keep them engaged in healthy activities.

The activities are designed to enhance the participants' physical, social, and cognitive skills, promote teamwork and provide an alternative to screen time.

Qatar Foundation's summer programmes with activities, camps, and classes are taking place across Education City throughout June and August at both indoor and outdoor facilities and for people of all ages and abilities.

The Summer Reading Challenge by Qatar National Library (QNL), which runs until August 10, is aimed at motivating children to read and boost their language skills. The QNL's summer camp for children offers exciting educational activities and runs from June 23 to August 29.

University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) summer camp activities include swimming, dance, sports, arts and crafts, baking and cooking, cinema and stories, e-gaming and gymnasium for the age group 5 to 15 years old.

The UDST Camp Coordinator Faiza Abshir told The Peninsula,“The purpose of organising the camp is to provide children aged 5 to 15 with a comprehensive and engaging summer experience. Our aim is to offer a safe, fun, and nurturing environment where children can explore their interests, develop new skills and make lasting friendships.

“We focus on a diverse range of activities that promote creativity, physical fitness, and educational growth, ensuring that each child has an unforgettable and enriching summer.”

Abshir, explaining the benefits of the camp for children, said,“The participants will benefit in numerous ways. They will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities such as swimming, dance, sports, arts and crafts, educational programmes, baking and e-gaming.

“These activities are designed to enhance their physical, social, and cognitive skills. Besides, our camps promote teamwork, confidence, and personal growth. With nutritious meals being provided, a low camper-to-instructor ratio, and a focus on safety, children will thrive in a supportive environment that encourages both fun and learning.”

Detailing the feature of the UDST summer camp, Abshir added,“The UDST camp stands out from other camps due to our all-inclusive approach and the quality of our facilities and programmes. We offer early drop-off and late pick-up options at no extra cost to accommodate parents' busy schedules.

“Each camper receives a swag bag filled with goodies, and our partner Baladna provides additional treats and prizes. Our state-of-the-art campus includes gender-segregated, temperature-controlled pools, modern sporting halls, and dedicated spaces for e-gaming and creative activities. Our experienced and passionate staff ensure a safe and nurturing environment, making the camp a unique and memorable experience for every child.”

Ayo Victor, a resident of Doha, said, “I plan to register my children in one of the summer camps in Doha considering the many benefits they offer, including providing a platform for children to meet peers outside their usual social circles, helping them make new friends, and expanding their social network.

“Aside from these, the camps also provide for them the opportunity to further develop their verbal and non-verbal communication in a variety of settings, which enhances their ability to express themselves and listen to others.

“My children have always looked forward to the summer camps with excitement, and they cannot wait enough to start again this year.

Among many other camps, The Diplomatic Club camp is offering activities such as swimming, yoga, arts and crafts, dance, and watching movies for the age group 5 to 10 years from June 30 till August 1.
