S. Korea Gets Most Medals In Asian Fencing Championship


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, June 27 (KUNA) -- The Asian Fencing Championship wrapped up on Thursday after seeing 350 participations form 36 countries partaking, with South Korea achieving the most medals (11), four of which Gold medals, two silver medals, and five bronze medals.
China and Japan came in second and third, with 10 medals, three golds, four silvers, and four bronzes for China; 11 medals, three golds, three silvers, and five bronzes for Japan.
Speaking to KUNA, Hamad Al-Awadhi, Secretary of the Kuwaiti Fencing Association hailed the success of hosting the championship, as witnessed by the all the delegations.
Al-Awadhi highlighted the importance of the championship, which takes place just before the Olympic Games, as it allows qualified athletes to prepare and strive to maintain or improve their rankings. (end)
