(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) The New Development bank (NDB) inaugurated its first seminar in Egypt on Tuesday, attended by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat, NDB President Dilma Rousseff, and other senior government officials, international institution representatives, and development partners.
The seminar, jointly organised by the Ministry of International Cooperation and the NDB, aims to introduce the bank's operations, foster cooperation between the government and private sector, explore collaboration opportunities among BRICS members, and maximize the use of the NDB's resources. The event underscores Egypt's strategic importance as a global connectivity hub and its growing role in global value chains and trade.
Egypt joined the NDB in March 2023 and was officially admitted to the BRICS group earlier this year. The seminar's agenda encompasses discussions on Egypt's development plans, its contribution to global development and cooperation among southern countries, and the NDB's financial tools and solutions for global development.
“The seminar aims to introduce the NDB's operations, enhance avenues of cooperation between the government and the private sector, explore future collaboration opportunities among founding and new BRICS members, and maximize the utilization of the NDB's available cooperation potentials,” said a statement from the Ministry of International Cooperation.
The event also saw the participation of Egyptian ministers, including Finance Minister Mohamed Maait, Transport Minister Kamel el-Wazir, Planning and Economic Development Minister Hala El-Said, Civil Aviation Minister Mohamed Abbas Helmy, and Financial Regulatory Authority Chairperson Mohamed Farid.
