Bemina Terror Attack: SIT Files Chargesheet Against Four Accused Under UAPA


(MENAFN- Kashmir Observer) Srinagar- Srinagar Police on Monday filed a chargesheet before the Special Judge National Investigation Agency (NIA) Court under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) against four accused in connection with a terror attack in Hamdania Colony Bemina last year.

The chargesheet was filed by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Srinagar police, six months after the attack, in which a cop suffered serious injuries. A formal case FIR No. 112 of 23 was registered at police station Bemina in this regard.

The three accused allegedly involved in the attack were arrested by the police, while another, an active terrorist of proscribed terror outfit Al-Badr, police said, is currently in Pakistan.

The accused were identified as Mehnan Khan, a resident of Syedpora Khawajapora, Rainawari, Imtiyaz Ahmad Khanday alias Raju, a resident of Hamdaniya Colony Bemina, Danish Ahmad Malla, a resident of Hamdaniya Colony Bemina and Arjumand Gulzar alias Hamza Burhan, a resident of Kharbatpora Ratnipora, Pulwama.


“Police in Srinagar produced a chargesheet in case FIR No.112/2023 under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act registered in Police Station Bemina before Court of Special Judge (NIA Court) in Srinagar,” a police spokesman said in a statement.

The chargesheet, he said, was filed by the SIT of Srinagar Police before NIA Court against four accused persons involved in the terrorist attack in Hamdaniya Colony, Bemina during December 2023 in which one police constable of J&K Police suffered serious injuries.

“During investigation, it came to fore that the three accused persons were working as terrorist associates for the active terrorist namely Arjumand Gulzar @ Hamza and had obtained arms and ammunition through a well-thought out criminal conspiracy aimed at targeted attack on the cop,” the spokesman added.

Srinagar Police, he claimed, have also initiated proceedings to attach properties and assets of the accused acquired through illegal means, under relevant provisions of UAPA.
