Morocco, Palestine reinforce economic relations with new cooperation agreements

(MENAFN) Morocco and Palestine took significant steps towards bolstering their economic ties on Wednesday as they signed two memorandums of understanding aimed at enhancing industrial, commercial, and technical cooperation between the two nations. The agreements were formalized during a meeting between Moroccan Minister of Industry Riad Mazour and his Palestinian counterpart, Arafat Abu Sneineh, held in the capital city of Rabat.

The meeting, which marked the start of a working visit by the Palestinian minister to Morocco, was characterized by discussions centered on strengthening bilateral economic relations. The Moroccan Ministry of Industry shared details of the event on the “X” platform, highlighting the signing of the two crucial memorandums.

The first memorandum focuses on fostering cooperation and mutual recognition of conformity certificates, quality marks, and halal certification between Morocco and Palestine. Meanwhile, the second agreement aims to bolster industrial, commercial, and technical collaboration while facilitating trade between the two countries. Notably, this memorandum also underscores Morocco's commitment to supporting stability and development in Palestine, aligning with the directives set forth by King Mohammed VI.

The signing of these agreements comes at a poignant time, with numerous cities in Morocco, particularly Rabat, witnessing solidarity vigils in support of the Palestinian people. Participants in these gatherings have called for an end to the Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip, which has endured devastating attacks for nearly eight months, resulting in significant loss of life, widespread destruction, and severe humanitarian crises.
