WFP: Provided Humanitarian Aid To 65,000 Flood Victims So Far
On Monday, June 3, the World Food Programme announced on its social media platform X, that it had assisted 65,000 people affected by the recent floods in the country.
According to this organization, they will need $14.5 million over the next seven months to address the needs of the victims of the recent floods.
So far, no specific statistics on the damage caused by the recent floods in Afghanistan are available.
Afghanistan has witnessed devastating rainfall and floods in the past month, which have resulted in hundreds of deaths.
This comes amid the dire humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan continuing to worsen, with 23 million people living in poverty and urgent need of aid.
The country's fragile situation has been further strained by forced deportations and deadly floods, which have exacerbated the humanitarian crisis and put additional pressure on already scarce resources.
The floods have destroyed homes, infrastructure, and farmlands, leaving many families without shelter and means to support themselves. The lack of clean water and adequate sanitation facilities has heightened the risk of disease outbreaks among the affected populations.
The international community has been called upon to provide immediate assistance to help mitigate the crisis.
