Middle Corridor Is Set To Significantly Enhance Kazakhstan's Transit Capacity - Official
She made the remark during a meeting with the Secretary Generalof the International Road Transport Union (IRU), Umberto dePretto.
"The Trans-Caspian route is set to play an important role instrengthening transit potential. The medium term can see a fivefoldrise in transit volumes due to the steadily increasing flow ofcommodities along this route," she said.
Umberto de Pretto, in turn, emphasized Kazakhstan's significantand expanding contribution to interregional road and multimodaltransportation.
Following the meeting, the parties talked about an upcomingevent at the Khorgos International Center for Cross-BorderCooperation that will involve the customs authorities of China,Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan exchanging experiences in the area ofsafe transit. This event will be facilitated by the IRU andKazakhstan.
The Middle Corridor is a transportation and trade route thatconnects Asia and Europe, passing through several countries in theregion. It is an alternative route to the traditional NorthernCorridor and Southern Corridor.
The route starts in China and crosses Central Asian countriessuch as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. It then passesthrough the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye beforereaching Europe.
The Middle Corridor offers a land route that connects theeastern parts of Asia, including China, with Europe, bypassing thelonger maritime routes.
