Doha, Qatar: South Korea edged Iraq 1-0 in their final friendly before the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023, which gets underway on January 12.

Midfielder Lee Jae-sung found target late in the first half in Abu Dhabi but the Taegeuk Warriors were unable to add to that lead in the second half despite dominating the proceedings.

South Korea played final minutes of the match with 10 men as Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Lee Kang-in was sent off after consecutive yellow cards.

Following the victory, South Korea will enter the Asian Cup with a six-match winning streak.

The Jurgen Klinsmann-side, which is holding a training camp in Abu Dhabi, is scheduled to arrive in Doha on Wednesday. They will start their Group E campaign against Bahrain on January 15 while Iraq will play their Group D opener against Indonesia the same day.

Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan arrived in Doha yesterday to participate in the Asian Cup. Kyrgyzstan are in Group F alongside Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Thailand.
