Doha, Qatar: The 78th Independence Day of Indonesia was celebrated with fervour and unity at the premises of the Indonesia Embassy in Qatar.
A ceremony and jubilant celebration took place yesterday, graced by the presence of embassy officials, members of Indonesian community, and representatives from various organisations. The event was adorned with a flag hoisting ceremony and a cake-cutting moment, signifying the occasion.
During the commemorative event, Indonesia Ambassador to Qatar, H E Ridwan Hassan delivered a speech that resonated with both historical reflection and a call for progressive action.
Ambassador Hassan emphasised the profound dual message that Independence Day conveys. On one hand, it serves as a resounding reminder of the gratitude Indonesians should hold for the blessings of independence bestowed upon them by a higher power.
The envoy passionately urged his fellow countrymen, both within the nation's borders and beyond, to express this gratitude by engaging in purposeful endeavours that contribute to the advancement of the homeland and the well-being of its citizens.
Conversely, he explained that August 17 serves as a historical marker that encapsulates the nation's resilience and its journey through tumultuous challenges. The Ambassador eloquently reminded the audience that Indonesia's collective history has been marked by transformative moments, acknowledging the nation's capacity to surmount adversities and navigate the intricacies of its past.
He said that the shared experience of ups and downs has only strengthened Indonesia's resolve, fostering a spirit of unity that transcends differences.“Our history have recorded that as a nation we have succeeded in passing crucial points. We have experienced ups and downs together. As a nation we may collide, but in the end we must form and remain united.”
Ambassador Hassan invoked the wisdom of Indonesia's first President, Soekarno, who once proclaimed that independence is not merely a cherished achievement but a bridge toward an enlightened and prosperous future.
As the celebration reached its culmination, Ambassador Hassan extended heartfelt wishes to Indonesia on its 78th anniversary, inspiring the nation to persistently move forward.“Happy 78th anniversary Republic of Indonesia. Keep moving forward Indonesia.”
